Discover Your Bounce in May is about embracing the Spring. Sowing seeds now that you’ll reap the benefits of throughout the year and even the rest of your life. So it made sense that our very first blog of the month would be a tick-list of actions that you can take this month to do exactly that! Some you can do right now (or after you finish reading!) and others may take some thought and preparation, but all of them are guaranteed to have a positive impact on your life. So let’s get started!
1. Call a loved one.
Do this right now. I mean right now! Go on, I’ll wait.
Done it? Good!
There is never a better time than right now to strengthen a relationship, whether it’s a family member, a friend or your other half. They’re your support system and they’ll see you through all the deflated times as well as the bouncy times, so make contact regularly even if it’s just to say hello.
2. Declutter.
I have to apologise first of all for suggesting any form of housework or manual labour, but when you hear my reasoning I hope you’ll forgive me! When we accumulate ‘stuff’ and it sits around unused in our homes it gathers stale energy. Imagine the dust settling on it as energy – a little bit grey and lifeless. This isn’t good for us and shaking it up a bit can do wonders for our energy levels. Get rid of old clothes, gadgets that haven’t worked in years (you won’t get around to fixing it, honestly) and anything you keep move it around. You can put it back later if you like, but make sure everything gets a little bit of love first.
Next put a date in the diary to do this again and set a reminder. Regularly clearing out our energetic rubbish will keep your home a lovely, bouncy place to be!
3. Start a project.
Work related, hobby related, home related, family related… it doesn’t matter. Find something you’re passionate about and devote part of every week to working on it. If you have commitment issues makes it something small, but you’re not getting out of it! If you can find a way to make a little money out of it as a side-business even better. The aim here is to increase your mental wellbeing and enjoyment in life, while improving skills that will help you along the line. Whether that’s working on a craft, developing strong relationships (see #1!) or expanding your mind is up to you.
4. Start a gratitude list.
The advice is always to start a journal, but being lazy creatures of comfort we often start one and stop 3 days later. Instead start a list that you can add to whenever you remember. Keep it somewhere prominent and remind yourself of all the great things you’ve got going for you whenever your bounce starts to ebb.
I want you to comment on this blog right now with a list of 3 things you’re grateful for. I’ll know if you don’t, I’ve got my eye on you! (I also know you didn’t call a loved one yet!)
5. Change your diet and exercise routine.
If you thought “What diet and exercise routine?” then I’m talking to you! It’s not a trick, it’s not something you can ‘do when you’re older’ and it’s certainly not something that will take up your energy. It will give you energy! Those who know me will know I’ve had more than my fair share of health problems over the last 3 years and I largely attribute my recovery to the diet I’m on and my improved health to the exercise routine I’ve started. This change will take time, thought and effort, but it’s the most rewarding change you’ll ever make, I promise.
6. Literally sow some seeds!
Gardening is therapeutic and plants come with a wide array of health benefits, from being aesthetically pleasing to improving the quality of air in your home. The exercise will be good for you too. Sow some seeds now and watch as your plant grows, this is you on your journey to Discover Your Bounce. Nurture yourself as you nurture the flower and you can grow together. You can tie this in with #3 & #5 – create a project of transforming your garden (or creating a garden-like space indoors!) and get fit putting it into action!
7. Volunteer.
This improves your wellbeing, it improves the wellbeing of others and you’ll get to meet new friends and be given new opportunities too. What’s not to love? Choose a cause close to your heart and know that you’re truly sowing seeds for the future.
So there you have it. 7 activities you can do this month that will sow the seeds for a better tomorrow. All cheesy cliches aside, you have to do something if you want your life to change, so why not start now? Our Discover Your Bounce Programme will take you through practical steps and give you all the support you need along the way to make the changes necessary to love your life.
Sharing is caring!
