Reincarnation – can we do it while we’re still here?

Reincarnation – life after death. It’s a subject that has been debated over and over and a personal choice whether you believe it or not. The idea that we can have several lives while still alive is one I’ve discussed about 5 times in the last week – so I thought I’d write a blog about it!

Have you ever looked back at a past photo and not recognised the person in it? Not only do you look different now you can’t even connect with how that version of you was feeling back then?

Have you ever then gone on to think back to that time to what had gone on emotionally since that photo?

In years gone by the life expectancy of a person was probably 40-50 years. These days we have a record number of centenarians!

Roll back 100 years and war and starvation were the stresses of the day and even simple flu could be fatal. These days we have more knowledge that ever on how to stay well and our stresses are less life threatening – but it’s amazing how stressed we can get about a lack of wifi, planning intricate diaries to include schools runs, ballet lessons and working in between!

So if we are living longer, does it not then follow that we have more to do and experience and that perhaps mid-term we get an ‘upgrade’?

My Reincarnation

I can look back over my life and see at least two occasions where I believe I had a new incarnation, where a new version of me took over. Both times there was a time leading up to it where I knew something big was changing but had no idea what.

I had become stressed, pushed myself to and beyond my limits. I didn’t care how I looked, had started to withdraw from people and put on a smile that really hid what was going on underneath. I had plenty of people around me that would help and support me had I shared, but I couldn’t seem to start the conversation.

In 2010 was by far my biggest upgrade to date. I was working 90-100 hours a week, driving myself from 4am until at least midnight and just rolled into whatever was closest each morning. The smile was painted on and I ignored the comments of my nearest and dearest that perhaps I should take a break.

When I finally took a few days away to go diving I suffered a muscular, skeletal and cerebral bend – the last one caused a stroke. I was 40.

The journey back to health was long and challenging and I had to learn a different way. Not only that I had to be different. Going back to normal wasn’t an option as the old normal had made me very ill and unhappy!

The good news is that 4 years on I’m happier, healthier and a little wiser. I ask for help when I need it and genuinely nurture my body – this vehicle needs to stay in top condition because I have plans!

So if life is causing you stress, if you feel overwhelmed or unhappy then please take the time to stop while you have the choice. Take a breather, assess your situation and decide what your perfect life would look like.

I was always told when learning holistic therapies that if we didn’t stop our bodies would stop us, but I failed to use this at the right time. I hope to help others to avoid the consequences of forgetting this.

Once we have an idea of how we want life to be and we stay focused on that positive outcome we start to enjoy coincidences, synchronicities and strokes of magic that help us get to our destination. All we need to do is say yes to new opportunities and be open to the changes that arise.

So today go and find a photo of yourself before a past significant event and see if you too have become a new version of you!
