Do you want to create an amazing life?
Some people seem to have it all and it can feel very irritating. Why do they get all the luck? Sometimes they have had special help but often it’s about understanding what you want and focusing on that outcome. Remember, creating a new version of your future has two aspects. One is the vision of your new life and the other is the adapting where you are now, with all of your currently thinking, to this new version of you.
What is your vision?
Setting a vision is about understanding what makes you happy and realigning your life, your attitude and your actions to create that view of the world. If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would your life look like? What would your daily routine be? Who would you mix with?
Try this exercise. Complete this sentence, “This time next year my life be…”
Consider the areas of:
Health
Wealth
Relationships
Work
Community
What would you change, in the next 2 years? What would good look like for you? Get it down on paper, either pictorially or as a letter to yourself. Remember to date it and to show gratitude. Writing it down makes it more likely to happen, because of the Reticular Activating System. This is a pattern spotter in your brain. Once you land on what you want, your brain will see it everywhere, making it easier to spot those great opportunities.
‘I am grateful for the people in my life and the experiences yet to come.’

Out with the old, in with the new! 7 Questions to Create an Amazing Life

If you want to make room for a new part of you to shine, and to transition in to a new you, here are 7 questions to consider.
1 Which version of me is making decisions?
Are you stuck in old thinking or old habits. Getting offended by things which aren’t really any part you anymore and don’t really impact you? It’s all about energy. The more time you spend focusing on things which you cannot change, the less time and energy you have to make a difference in your own life.
Which version of me is making decisions, old me or new me? When I think of my younger self I remember a feisty girl who needed to prove her worth to the world. Now that I am older and more established, I can approach the world in a different way. But when I am under pressure I need to watch which version of me is calling the shots, and so it is with many of us. Beware of old thinking that no longer serves you.
2. Who am I comparing myself with and why?
It’s great to have role models, but there is only one you. You will never be a carbon copy of someone else and that is a good thing. So if you feel like you are failing, maybe you are just succeeding at being you. Too much comparison is unhelpful and may stop you from spotting your true pathway and your own talents. Consider why this other person’s pathway or outcome is more desirable than yours. Maybe your position is ‘ok for now’. Thinking big is about timescales – be inspired, set yourself a goal, go for it! And if you aren’t at the point you want, replan your timescale with your next step; no comparison is needed.
3. Am I speeding up in my efforts or slowing down?
Sometimes we kid ourselves that we are all steam ahead whilst not giving a project the time or space. This can lead to berating ourselves. If things are slowing down and you are happy with that, then it’s fine. If you aren’t happy with it them replan and refocus. If slowing down is due to concerns, sit with that issue for a while, take some advice – are you on the right path for you? The great thing with it being your life is that you get to choose your pace and your outcomes.
If you are speeding up your efforts remember to check the quality of what you are creating, and is it a sustainable pace for your energy?
4. How can I practice gratitude more easily?
If you want to create an amazing life you need to acknowledge where you are, you could be closer than you think! Being grateful has two effects. It reminds us of our true reality and it gives us a dopamine hit which makes us feel good. It can also aid sleep if you list your gratitudes when you go to bed. So make space for this style of reality check. Remember how far you have come, remind yourself of the good things in your life.
5 Who or what am I blaming for my current situation?
People can be unhelpful and situations can occur which are outside of your control, leaving you unable to make a change or sustain a situation. It can leave you wondering if it’s possible to create an amazing life! But, ultimately most circumstances change over time. Be honest with yourself if you feel stuck. Does the reasoning still hold true, or is it a convenient excuse? Do you need a different approach, or to get some help to move things along? You alone are responsible for your long term destiny.
6 What habits or attitudes no longer serve me?
What do you say to yourself or about yourself when things go wrong or you don’t get the outcome you desire? If you say, “I will never be able to create an amazing life,” you will be right. Self sabotage is one of the most common reasons why people don’t have the life they really want. This can be because they believe that deep down they aren’t good enough/ thin enough/ rich enough to deserve it.
Let me tell you a secret. There is no deserve, only action and a desire to change. Feeling deserving is a value judgement and this can vary from person to person and from day to day. If you have had a hard day at work do you ‘deserve’ a glass of wine? What if you choose to have a glass of wine. It is within your gift to make your own rules.
What do you do? Are there any patterns? Mantras are a good place to start when it comes to switching to a more positive mindset. These are positive statements that start with the statement, “I am…” For example “I am a successful business women with wonderful clients.”
7. Where is my focus today?
To create an amazing life you will need to keep your focus. Make decisions which support the life you truly want and avoid situations and people who will drag you back to the you of the past. When people want your time, ask yourself, “Does this move me towards my goal or away from my goal?”
Have you heard of the term ‘uncomfortably comfortable?’ This is when a situation isn’t right for you, but you cope with it and you are used to it, but it’s frustrating, or irritating. We can all feel ‘uncomfortably comfortable’ in life and the more you sit in that space the harder it can be to change the circumstance. As no matter how unfulfilling, it is familiar and that has a comfort all of its own. Remind yourself that the new situation is better, brighter and more you. The moment to step in to it you will feel at home.
Energy flows where attention goes…
By focusing on what you want and not what you lack, you are more likely to achieve your goals. To create an amazing life you will need to put some energy in to your actions and make a few decisions which could be all new to you. But isn’t that where the magic is? Think about how great it will feel to have this new life, how much more you. The rest is a small transition.
