Local entrepreneur recognised for making a powerful contribution to society, the economy and communities

11th JANUARY 2021: Entrepreneur from Bristol has been named as one of the UK’s top 100 inspirational female entrepreneurs by Small Business Britain’s f:Entrepreneur ‘#ialso100’ campaign.

Sharon Critchlow who founded corporate wellbeing, personal development and publishing business Discover Your Bounce for Business in 2017, is being showcased alongside 100 female entrepreneurs from across the UK, as part of the campaign’s recognition of the multi-achievements of women that have proved critical to society during the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been a great 12 months  for Sharon, who was also  listed as one of the Top 50 Women in Accounting by Practice Ignition, a worldwide listing of accountants who are making a difference on a global scale.

Now in its fourth year, f:Entrepreneur was launched in 2017 to highlight amazing female role models to help and inspire all small businesses, through content, stories and events. It particularly aims to showcase trailblazing female entrepreneurs that lead small businesses alongside a roster of other responsibilities, such as volunteering, mentoring and community support, activities

Indeed, Sharon was also called out for her Social Passion Project which has brought together 63 people across three continents to share their personal inspiring stories of bouncing back through three Amazon best-selling books all created in 2020 titled

“The Bounce Back Journey”
“The Bounce Back Journey of Women’s Health” and
“The Bounce Back Journey of Men’s Health”

The profits from these books support mental health projects in Bristol, and there are three more titles covering careers, parenting and gender & sexuality underway for 2021. Further information about The Social Passion Project can be found here

Sharon also gives her time to ACCA, a global accountancy body, and sits both on their Council agreeing strategy and on their Regulatory Board. 2020 has seen her giving inspirational talks and providing free wellbeing webinars to members in Malaysia, India, Caribbean and US and well as the UK. Through Moracle Foundation her kind wisdom has also been shared across Africa.

From beekeepers to PPE, tech entrepreneurs to pole-dance-enthusiasts, this year’s campaign celebrates inspiring and resilient female entrepreneurs that have flourished despite Covid-19, with many still growing or starting new ventures.

On being listed in the #ialso100, Sharon said: “It is an honour to be listed in the #ialso100 this year. The Social Passion Project has the potential to broaden and deepen our connection to each other at a time when we must remain apart. Sharing stories gives hope that there is a way forward and is beneficial to those experiencing the journey of others but also to those who choose to share. The process is a win-win-win scenario as the profits support reducing stigma around mental health in our community.

Coming from an under privileged background I owe my business skills and my financial success to becoming and remaining a member of ACCA. This is why I devote my time to supporting members and future members globally. Several ACCA members have shared their Bounce Back stories proving that despite the dark times of 2020 our sense of community is stronger than ever and we each have a part to play in nurturing it and supporting each other.”

Both f:Entrepreneur and Small Business Britain were founded by Michelle Ovens CBE, who is also the director of Small Business Saturday UK.

“Congratulations to all the inspiring women chosen to join this year’s #ialso100,” said Michelle Ovens. “Despite the significant obstacles thrown at them in the last year, female entrepreneurship continues to grow and flourish. We need to continue, and increase, our support for these incredible women and celebrate their amazing strength and success in the face of huge challenges.”

“We have seen so many women embracing change, generating and exploring new ideas, rallying around their communities and supporting their peers. This resilience is hugely valuable and will set them up for success as they will be at the very heart of the UK’s recovery.”

The goal of the campaign is to celebrate the dynamic and inspirational businesses led by women in the UK.

It is aimed at both men and women, because everyone has something to learn from these stories of challenge and success.

Through events, content and storytelling, f:Entrepreneur showcases role models to help and inspire all small businesses.
