Welcome to December!

A month where nature is receding into the depths of the earth, animals are hibernating…and we human beings are running around in a frenzy!

We have had Black Friday and Cyber Monday where car parks were rammed and old ladies armed with umbrellas battled to get their reduced price telly…

Now it’s time to post your Christmas Tree pics on Facebook, wrap endless presents while consuming your own body weight in well known brands of coffee based liqueurs and tell everyone how stressed you are!

Or is it?

In recent years there has been a tide of change that has turned success into stress. Busy = successful and heaven forbid you actually weren’t doing anything that you could post on Facebook!

Our brains have been flooded with a range of commodities to keep it busy: e-mails and Facebook on phones, Instagram to take that picture rather than enjoy the moment. When the phone rings we have that inner urge to answer come what may…and how many texts do you send/receive?

The trouble is…

We aren’t just a brain, We are mind, body and spirit.

We have a physical body that instantly weakens at the thought of too much to do. That also gets neglected when our brain fills up with busy-ness.

We have a spirit that longs for solitude, for nature and for love that gets dampened when the diary is too full and the stimulus constant.

So here are some Bouncy tips to ensure that the festive season remains…well, festive!

1. Write your to do list – and cross off half of it! Be realistic with what you can actually achieve in a day. If something gets put off until tomorrow or doesn’t get done – would that be ok?

2. Let go of perfection. Your Christmas dinner table does not need to look like something out of Homes & Ideas…unless you love every second of creating it. The minute you notice any huffing or sighing let the idea go and choose something that suits you.

3. Watch your language!

If someone asks how you are choose to share the good stuff. Ranting, FB posting in anger and complaining of any kind switches on your fight or flight reflex and inhibits problem solving and happiness (and yes, there is plenty of scientific backing for this statement). Tell yourself how amazing December is, how much time you have and how much fun it will all be. Imagine the scene of everyone getting on splendidly and events running smoothly.

4. Enjoy the journey AND the destination!

I’ll be happy when…takes your enjoyment into a future and as yet non existent time. Choose to be happy now, to go at your own pace, make decisions that feel right and nurture mind, body and spirit. This way you are living happiness with every step you take and good vibrations will shine out and soak into everyone you meet.

Follow these tips and come December 25th you will be your very own radiant Christmas star!
