How I Discovered My Bounce

 

Before I start telling you the story of how I discovered my bounce, I have a confession to make. I didn’t think the programme would work for me. Weird, right? For those of you who don’t know, Nicky isn’t just the founder of the business for me, she’s also my mum. I believe in her and her business wholeheartedly (that’s why I work for her!).

So let me explain why. For as long as I can remember I’ve had health problems; from severe nosebleeds as a child to chronic depression and anaemia as a teenager. By my early 20s I was diagnosed with Endometriosis, the two main symptoms being chronic pain and fatigue. Earlier this year I had cholecystitis – inflammation of the gall bladder – that led to emergency surgery to remove it. I say this not for sympathy, I still have an amazing life! But to give you an idea of how impossible it seemed to me that the Discover Your Bounce programme might be able to help.

I started the programme out of curiosity and also to help me understand the business more. It seems funny looking back that I did this to do my job better, but it’s true. But pretty quickly I found that the techniques were actually helping me. It wasn’t that my health issues were going away, but my mindset was changing and I was suddenly coping much better with the symptoms.

I was still suffering with fatigue, but I started learning where my limits were and how to say no to things that would overstretch me. I was still in pain but with the techniques I learned through the programme I could lower the pain level without pain medication (and pretty much eliminate it when I combined the two). Most importantly, my attitude towards my illness was changing. At a time where I was questioning if I was ever going to be ‘better’ the programme helped me realise that it was up to me.

I might never be rid of endometriosis, I might always have to watch my diet to keep anaemia at bay, but that doesn’t mean I’m not better.

June 2015

6 months ago I could barely get out of bed and I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to anymore. It was comfy, warm and safe. I could live there, right? Now I might be tired, but not only am I back at work, I’ve become a Bounce Licensee so that I can build an empire right next to Nicky. I’d call that better!
